Recently, our customized mesh belt dryer was successfully delivered to a citrus grower in Yichang, Hubei. Tailored to the characteristics of local Wenzhou mandarin peels, this exclusive drying solution effectively addresses the pain points of low efficiency and unstable quality in traditional dried tangerine peel processing. It provides efficient support for individual small-scale processing and helps increase the added value of agricultural products.​

Yichang is a core production area for loose-skin citrus in China. Many local growers process citrus peels into dried tangerine peel for sale. Previously, growers mostly adopted natural sun-drying or charcoal baking methods, which are greatly affected by the weather. Temperature control was difficult, easily leading to the loss of volatile oils and uneven color of dried tangerine peel, thus affecting the selling price. During the peak harvest period of fresh tangerine peels, losses often occurred due to insufficient production capacity, creating an urgent need for small and efficient drying equipment.​

Based on the grower's needs, we customized a 6-meter multi-layer small mesh belt dryer with three core advantages: First, precise temperature and humidity control. It adopts a three-stage drying process, with a volatile oil retention rate of ≥2.8%, ensuring the quality of dried tangerine peel. Second, it is suitable for small-scale processing, with a daily capacity of 2 tons of fresh tangerine peels. Semi-automatic operation only requires one person, significantly reducing costs. Third, it is compact in size and easy to install. Using biomass as the heat source, it is energy-saving and environmentally friendly, and can be used in ordinary farm courtyards.​

According to the grower's feedback, after the equipment was put into use, the drying cycle of dried tangerine peel was shortened from 7-10 days to 72 hours, and the moisture content was stably below 13%, with significantly improved quality. The processed dried tangerine peel sells well in local markets and across the country through e-commerce channels, with the added value increased by more than 25%. This fully verifies the adaptability of the equipment in small-scale agricultural product processing scenarios and lays a foundation for further exploring the local market.
